After a long sabbatical...

So, after almost 2 years I'm back to the  blog sphere. Out of the blue, I realised that I missed writing movie reviews and decided to get back to it.

To make the blog much more consistent and easier to manage I've decided that I'm going to focus on movie reviews, at least most of the time.

Well, I'll be back with a proper post soon.  Till then...

I Want to Buy a Zoo!

Yes, I am back and this time for good (I hope). And, yes you read the title right.

    That's exactly what came to my mind after watching 'We Bought a Zoo'. Starring Matt Damon and Scarlett Johansson, this film (based on a true story) is one that everyone should watch, especially animal lovers. I for one, have always been an animal lover (specifically lions) and this movie as the name suggests, spends substantial amount of time showcasing animals and it's just beautiful beyond words.

   The story is pretty simple. A single father, Benjamin Mee (Matt Damon) raising two kids after the death of his beloved wife just a few months back, decides to buy a zoo as a way of 'moving on' and pretty much because his 5-year old daughter, Rosie adores the place. His 14-year old son, Dylan (Colin Ford, who looked ridiculously like Matt Damon in his younger days) though, like any other teenager, feels frustrated being forced to move out of his home and away from his friends.

 Now, the best part of the movie is the emotional scenes between the father and son and also, the occasional conversations between Matt Damon and one of the tigers (reminds me of my dog). The quarrels in the beginning and the slow yet a little dramatic type of situations which eventually leads to the understanding and stronger relationship between the father and son were commendable.

 There is a particular scene in which Dylan overhears his father telling his fellow zoo keeper, Kelly that Dylan has the same eye and expressions like his late wife and that's why he always tries to avoid looking at Dylan's eyes. Following this, Dylan angrily expresses that he is unhappy and rebellious because the father spends more time with the Rosie and that he hates him. This turns out to a huge quarrel which ends with both of them shouting at each other, 'Help me, damn it!'. And as cliche as it sounds, both the father and son later on end up becoming closer and strengthen their bond.

  The scene that made me decide that I am going to love this movie was the beautiful shot of the lion. I am a huge lion lover (don't try figuring out why) and any movie with a lion in it would make my experience watching the movie a few notches better. So, if you love animals make sure you catch this movie as they have quite a number of animals right from Grizzly bear, tiger, lion, just name any that you can find in a zoo!

  Besides the emotional relationship of the father and son, the second half also focuses on how Benjamin, his kids and the zoo keepers struggle to re-open the zoo and keep it going.Of course, there's a small track of romance between Benjamin and Kelly (Scarlett Johansson) but I wasn't really bothered to be honest.

   As far as performance goes, Matt Damon and the kids managed to make an impact.Overall, the movie moves a little slowly but those who appreciate genuine story telling and have a thing for wild animals should definitely make it a point to watch this film.

Black : The Color of Light

Please don't be intimidated by the title. I am not going to talk about something philosophical here. 

As I said in my previous post, I wanted to write up about something interesting and what more interesting than a movie, right?! I know that a lot of you might be shocked but yes, I had never watched Black before and I managed to watch it tonight. And, I had to write about it, immediately. 

Before I move on to my so-called 'review', Black is a 2005 Hindi film starring Rani Mukerji and Amitabh Bachan. So, it's basically a story about a deaf and mute girl, Michelle McNalle and how she struggles to become an independent,strong woman with the help of her teacher, Mr.Sahai whom she calls 'Tee'.

Michelle's mother, Mrs.McNally is told that she is deaf and mute at the age of 2 and ever since then, the family struggles to keep their family going. The way the parents suffer because of a lack of understanding on how to raise a child like Michelle is saddening. One particular scene early on in the movie that moved me was the moment when Mr.McNally informs his wife that their daughter is deaf and mute.Mrs.McNally immediately turns towards her baby and starts making different gestures,clapping her hands but realises that what her husband told her was indeed true. Michelle was not reacting to anything that she was doing.

When Mr.McNally gives up on the daughter, in comes the magician,Mr.Sahai, a teacher for the deaf and blind.He transforms the spoil brat Michelle, into a decent young woman who is strong and independent. Together their ultimate goal was to see Michelle graduate.

The rest of the story is about how she graduates after a very long time and how Michelle helps Mr.Sahai during his old age.

Before watching the movie, I was skeptical about Rani Mukerji's performance. As I am going to reveal here, I was never a fan of hers and never really liked the characters she played in most of her movies. So, to say that she did an incredible job in this movie means a lot.

 

Another person not to be left out is the girl who played the young Michelle McNally, Ayesha Kapoor. She was simply amazing as a child who was suffering through her entire childhood not knowing how to live her life.

Amitabh Bachan is the biggest prove and example on why senior actors like Rajinikanth and Kamal Hassan should play roles that suit their age.Big B has done an awfully beautiful job for which he truly deserves that National Award he won for this movie. He has proven time and again that it's not the image of playing a hero that matters in the business, it's about the character and it's significance that matters ultimately.No one else could have replaced him in that role.

To sum it all up, there's nothing extra-ordinary in the story. But, the screenplay which portrays the way Michelle struggles and her fiery spirit, more importantly the strength and believe that Mr.Sahai has in her is what makes this movie special. Plus, the one message that the movie keeps on  showing us is that nothing is ever impossible.

For those who have not watched this movie, please do yourself a favor and go watch it. It's truly an inspirational movie and one that can be watched more than once.

I am Back!!! (for the umteenth time)

Yes, the last time I posted was in February and it's been quite long since then.
To be honest, I have been quite active on twitter (http://twitter.com/sree12eve) and busy with university.

My exams are going on now and I have one paper left and then I will be free at least for another one month.

So, I have decided that I should start blogging again (not that a million of you are waiting to read my blog).

Anyways, I will be back as soon as possible with something interesting. Till then, good bye peeps!

Grey's Anatomy 7.13

I am a huge huge Grey's Anatomy fan. I love the show for a lot of reasons, but that's for another post! Anyways, Grey's airs every Thursday (Friday in M'sia) in the US and people outside US usually get to watch it after around 6 hours on websites that offer streaming of the show.

I used to watch it on friday afternoons, but the power of internet is such that for the past few months I have been watching it live. I love talking about this show and discussing it but not many of my friends really follow this show. So, to vent my feelings about the stories in this show, I thought that I would post mini-reviews sort of a thing after every other episode.

So, now regarding today's episode; it's titled "Don't Deceive Me". Callie Torres is preggers with Mark Sloan's baby and quite surprisingly, her 'lesbian lover', Arizona agreed to stay with her and help raise the baby. Meanwhile, things didn't go so well with Lexie. I mean, it's quite natural to get pissed if your boyfriend sleeps with his BFF when you were not exactly together, and then when you get back with him, he lets you know that Callie is carrying his baby.

Mark was undeniably happy when he heard that Callie was having his baby and he decided that he will be there with Callie and support her through this. He even went to the extent and proposed marriage but thank God Callie threw that idea away making Mark realize that he can't really marry Callie because guess what, he's in love with Lexie! And then he manages to cringe thinking about how he's gonna break the news to Lexie. But, I do get why he brought up marriage, he probably thought that that was the right thing to do in regards to the baby, but whatever.

I was basically devastated.Being a huge shipper of this couple, Mark & Lexie. As much as I don't want them to break up, I totally get why Lexie reacted the way she did. While cooking dinner, Mark told Lexie the dreaded news.

"How the hell did you get me in this position TWICE"

was all Lexie had to say to Mark.Halway through last season, Mark's grandson whom he voluntarily wanted to raise up (without discussing it with Lexie) broke them up because Lexie wasn't ready to be a mother/grandmother.It took almost one whole season for this two characters to get back on track.Plus they were together for only 2 episodes, and all hell broke loose and ripped them apart! What a great way to crush millions of fans and shippers, don't you think!

I am extremely emotional right now, because for the past 2 season, I have been patiently waiting for a beautiful storyline for Mark/Lexie. They are two amazing, not to mention gorgeous characters that are totally made for each other. And, the thought of them being apart is hurting me. No, I am not kidding. It's seriously hurting me inside. I know, I would never have believed that I would be so invested in a TV show like this,but what can I say? I am just keeping my fingers crossed that both of them will get back together asap.

AR Rahman = Amazingness

I have been online the whole time this whole week. Anyways, found this beautiful video and it's Naan Varuvene by AR Rahman. Watch it and feel the amazingness of AR Rahman. :)

Stuck in My Head!

It's been quite some time since I posted anything related to music, and this is just the right time.
As the title suggests, for the past couple of months, there have been a number of songs that got stuck in my head. I am not complaining, but seriously, who would want songs playing in their head when they are in the middle of answering their finals.

Anyways, let's just get straight to the list.

• Cry Cry from Jhoota Hi Sahi - This one's by AR Rahman. I wasn't too impressed with our "Oscar Hero" 's composition for Enthiran ( they were good but not mindblowing) but I must say that he's back. I love those slow, soul-catching songs that he comes up with and this song is up there with the likes of Kabhi Kabhi Aditi (Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na) and Masakkali (Delhi 6).
• Yathe Yathe, Ayyayayo & Otha Sollala from Aadukalam - These 3 songs are from the same movie, composed by GV Prakash. Yathe Yathe and Ayyayayo are simply beautiful, melodious and haunting (to a certain degree). They are by far one of the best works of GVP, in my opinion. Otha Sollala is more of a kuthu type of song that might not be everyone's cup of tea but I enjoy it thoroughly!
• Bathing at Cannes & Nenjil Nenjil from Engeyum Kaathal - Harris Jeyaraj just does it every time. I can't recall any movie of his without at least one beautiful song. Bathing at Cannes is a beautiful rap song.Ya, I never thought I would say this, but it is a beautiful rap song, with our very own Malaysian, Emcee Jesz. Nenjil Nenjil is typical Harris Jeyaraj music, but some or rather makes me wanna listen to it again and again.
• Ennamo Yedho from Ko - Harris Jeyaraj with Emcee Jesz again. But trust me, this is not a rap song. Atleast not a typical one.

Remember that upsetting event that happened last January and I wrote about it in my previous post saying that I would like to correct it. I had an opportunity to do so and guess what, I have done it! I did it. I can't reveal what exactly it was but I am really happy.

All I can say is that I screwed things up last Jan due to my laziness. I am not saying that I am not lazy anymore, but I worked a lil more this time, and made it. So, I have to thank God and my parents for all the support.

I'm back!

Yes, I am. I am a little surprised that this is my first post in a long long time, almost a year now.
Given the amount of time I spend online daily, I should be posting everyday. Anyways, that should be one of my new year resolutions. To blog more often.

Happy new year,by the way. I know that it's a little too late, but it's the thought that counts :), rite?

Now, 2010 was an interesting year for me. Met a lotta new people, spent time experimenting on quite a few things, spent a lot of time in front of the TV and laptop and most importantly, didn't quite realize any of my resolutions for that year. So, in an attempt to sort of look back at what I had done last year, and learn from my mistakes, here are a few experiences that I went through.Hoping that I would learn from them. (I would most probably be very vague on the events, reason being not to embarrass myself)

1. Had a setback/upsetting event early on in January itself. It was an expected result of my laziness and 'selamba' attitude and hoping to correct it asap.

2.I got sick. Really sick. And, I recovered. But, getting really ill (not talking about something minor, like flu) made me realize who would be there for me no matter what. It opened my eyes and that was sort of humbling and encouraging. I also have a new found respect, I mean I have always respected nurses, but after this experience my respect for them has just heightened. It's truly amazing to see the amount of patience and tolerance they put out there to help strangers.
On a sort of a cooler note, I was "allowed" to rest for almost a month. What I mean by 'allowed' is that, I was able to just sleep the whole day or not do anything productive without being scolded. Now, that was very nice :)

3.I read "The Last Lecture". In fact, that was probably the one and only book that I read that whole year. Pathetic, I know. But, I was surprised by how much I liked it. I did expect myself to enjoy it but as I went on reading it, I ended up loving it. It's not fiction, but more of bits and pieces of the life of Randy Pausch, the professor who has past away. This book is more of the life lessons that he would like to pass on to his young children. And trust me, it's totally applicable for any one of us. So, that's just a few things from 2010 but I am hoping for a better, happier and more peaceful 2011 ahead for all of us. That's all for now, chao!

This is gonna be really random. I have been online now, for more than 2 hours, just checking my emails and all that, and started watching my favorite songs on YouTube.
I am totally into the oldies today, and decided to post one of my all-time favourite here.



It's "Chinna Thaayaval" from the movie, Thalapathi. This song is really sentimental, more on a mother-son relationship and I simply love it, just like that!
So, enjoy watching the song which might just make you weep a little (especially if you get the lyrics).

Why this Hypocrisy ?

Alright, this might sound like a ranting, because it is but this issue, that I am about to write has been bugging me for a long long time. Seriously, just because someone is of a different gender doesn't give them the right to behave in a dominant/submissive manner. It shouldn't matter, whether you're a man or a woman for you to raise your voice, does it? Honestly, I believe that purpose, reason and genuine intent should determine the way a person behaves, not because the person you are talking to is a man/woman!!!

A lot of people talk about equal rights and all that, but when it comes to certain situations/issues, they tend to incline to the other side and I have no idea why. Being a woman is just as hard as being a man. I seriously feel that people underestimate the potential or the abilities of a woman when they compare a 'her' to a 'him'. And all these new generation thingy that people talk about, nope, I don't think anything has changed much. There are people who give valid credit to woman, but there are still millions who fail to change their mindset about woman.

Before you go on thinking that I am being a typical feminist, just consider the fact that everyone, each and everyone of us here are first and foremost, humans. And, humans should be treated like they are without any sort of discrimination based on their gender whatsoever.
I don't know much about the other parts of the world, but here, in this part of my world, hypocrisy is abundant. Women talk about equal rights, the way they should be treated, and all that, but at certain point, they themselves become slaves to the absurd believe that men are superior. This just goes on to show that truly, a woman is another woman's worst enemy!

Why do we have all these hypocrisy??? I have yet to find out the real reason for this. Is it because, woman are taught to perceive men in such a way? Or is it simply the way the world works that people have just forgotten their stands?

My Favourites of 2008 (Tamil Movies)

Yes, I am back and this time, once again, with another post on movies, specifically, Tamil Movies. My blog, which I started of to be sort of a place to express my thoughts and all, seem to be centralized mostly on movies...well, I guess I am pretty much a movie lover....
Anyway, let's get to the topic now....I am going to list my top-5 favourite Tamil Movies that were released last year (2008) and just to inform, I have not watched all the movies that came out in 2008. I watched quite a number of films based on their popularity and critical acclaims.So here goes the list, in no particular order...

• Anjathey : I remember mentioning this movie here under one of the movies that I really wanted to watch and let me be clear that I was not at all dissapointed!!! After watching this movie, I was so wow-ed...seriously...I wanted to post a review, but didn't and can't remember why anyways. Btw, this movie is by the man behind "Chithiram Pesuthadi", Mysskin. I loved this film so much and it's because of the simplicity and the real and engaging theme that the movie handled. It's basically a cop story, intertwined with a rather creepy and extremely saddening crime issue with the cops looking for the culprits. But, the main theme dwelved on friendship and how fate,ignorance and misunderstandings could just destroy something that you have build with so much love. For those who are reading this right now, this is a MUST-WATCH and please, please go and watch it if you have not!

• Santhosh Subramaniam: I remember ranting about it here that I got very much irritated by Genelia ( who plays Hasini) after watching this movie for the second time. But, hey this movie was seriously fun and entertaining. A feel-good family entertainer to say the least. Again, it was the fourth movie of the Raja-Jeyam Ravi duo and did become a huge hit. Anyways, Jeyam Ravi and Prakash Raj were awesome and Genelia was quite alright too. Songs were good and I enjoyed it thoroughly as it was based on a lovey-dovey theme which although is quite common in Tamil Cinema, here in this film, was handled in a different way. Again, go and watch this on a weekend if you have missed it. The comedy aspect with Premji and Santhanam around can definitely help you relieve some stress!!!

• Vaaranam Aayiram: One of the few movies which released with some huge expectations, and quite expectedly turned out to mixed reviews and thoughts from people around. The huge PLUS of the movie, even before its release was the audio by Harris Jeyaraj, which is perhaps, easily the best album of 2008 (Remember Mundhinam, Anjale & Nenjukkul Peithidum???). Surya without any doubt was clearly amazing in the two roles he essayed, as both the father and son, with believable body language and genuine emotions. But, as I mentioned in my review, the movie worked only in parts for me. Anyway, it's definitely one of the better movies that came out last year. • Saroja: This movie is from the same team that churned out the suprise-hit of 2007, Chennai 600028. Saroja is a thriller with a lot of fun attached to it due to it's four lead actors, Premji, Vaibhav, Saran and Siva. Vaibhav is a newcomer but the others are the same faces from Chennai 60028. What about the other 7-some who were in Chennai-28 you may ask...they all appeared in guest-roles throughout this movie, including Jai (of Kangal Irandal fame). Since, this is a suspense thriller, I can't reveal much of the plot, but it certainly revolves around the four-some that I mentioned above. All through the movie, you can expect fun and a lot of fun, right from the beginning till the very end. And, that's precisely the strength of the movie. The comedy and the way their characters (Premji,Vaibhav,etc) were played was simply awesome. Overall, this is another MUST-WATCH. Oh, also worth mentioning is Yuvan's youthful songs and almost-perfect background scores.

• Dasavathaaram: Again, one of the most awaited movies of last year...this one was another milestone in Kamal's already wonderful career. With 10 unique characters, Kamal was really good and essayed all the characters well. The story and the theme was different and the way everything was connected certainly made it a good for view. I have said a lot about this movie, so I would suggest to check my review, Dasavatharam : It's all about Kamal! (click here).

Thank You '08 & Welcome '09!!!

And, yes.... we have arrived to the inevitable end of another year, where some just celebrate the new beginning while the others just pray and hope that the next day will be better than yesterday.

For me, it has been sort-of a year which can be described as not-so-happening, I did learn a lot though. The same old lessons that life and people around me remind me of and yet, I don't really do much to change. So, this time I really hope I do something, as in less talk and more action...something which is almost impossible yet so much possible!

Anyway, I just wanna thank everyone, family,friends and strangers (yes, strangers are not so strange u knw!) for making 2008 a wonderful year! And here's wishing everyone a bright New Year!!!!

I am irritated.
I know that I should do something about it.

But, why must people just conclude about things that only I would know how I feel about.

Vaaranam Aayiram

I have always been a Gautham Menon fan and I was definitely looking forward for this movie to hit the screens. After reading a few reviews with mixed opinions, I went to the cinema with no expectations today morning.Before I point out the plusses and minus's of this movie (in my opinion), let me just talk a little about the movie generally.
As most of you all would have known already, Surya's donning two roles, as a father and the son. Simran comes as the mother and Sameera Reddy and Divya Spandana also form an important part of the movie.

The story is simply about how a father influences a guy's life, in the son's point of view.
Naturally, one starts comparing this with Cheran's Thavamai Thavamirunthu (TT) as both these movies deal with the same theme. But, it must be noted that Cheran and Gautham are two different directors and they treat and direct their movies differently.
Unlike TT, Vaaranam Aayiram (VA) focuses on the son and his life and how the father makes an impact in his life. Dialogues by the father like, "Pursuit what your heart wants" and "Whatever happens, life must go on" are nice to hear,watch and is definitely motivating and cements the fact that Krishnan is such a positive father. But, unfortunately, that's the most the father does. He encourages Suriya (the son) to do what his heart desires and motivates him, helps him when he needs him the most but something was just not there. The part where he advices Suriya (the son) to focus his energy in a positive way and when he asks him why he has build his muscles for (trying to say that he should fight back) were good. Still,I am not sure what, but I just felt that they could have exploited their relationship a little more, may be.

I must say that the movie was NOT bad, it was quite good, but in parts. As in, I enjoyed the movie in parts. It was nice to see a collection of different stages of a man's life. I loved Suriya's younger days, in his teens on how he retalliates when a senior beats him up and after he loses his love, the way he mourns and calls his dad and informs him what had happened. These were certain scenes/parts that moved me a little. Also, once Suriya turns to drugs to continue living. All these were potrayed in a very realistic manner.
Yet, something was lacking,missing in the movie. I am not sure what but it could have been more intensed may be.
Anyway, lets look into the positives/plusses in this movie:

1. Surya: He has always performed well post-Nandha and once again, he is simply amazing in this movie. Right from the old father,Krishnan, the 17-year-old Suriya (the son), the lover-boy Suriya, the drug-addict Suriya and the army-man Suriya....he is simply awesome. He has really put in so much of effort not only on his expressions and body language but also his physique. He seriously looks like a 17-year-old during that period of the movie and with a six-pack, he looks so much more convincing as Major Suriya.On the whole, Surya has basically done a fantastic job.
2. Songs/Music: Harris Jeyaraj scores yet again. I have written enough about the songs, in one of my previous posts but let me tell you once again, Harris rocks!!! The background score is also good. Songs have been picturised well and my pick of the lot would be Mundhinam,Yethi Yethi and Ava Enna.

Yes, after watching the movie, I had only 2 reasons to recommend it to others.

Now, let's move on to the minus points.

1. Star casts: I have no complaints on Surya but just wish Gautham had chosen someone else than Sameera and Divya. Simran did a splendid job as the mother but the other two, were just off the mark. Sameera looked sweet in certain angles but didn't quite play the role fittingly. Divya too, failed to do much in a role that offered quite some opportunity to shine. She looked dull and plain and was just there doing nothing more than delivering her dialogues just as that,mere dialogues.
2. Theme potrayal: The father-son relationship theme is a noble one but I just felt that it was not exploited deeply. The emotions and sentiments were there, but they were not engaging and gripping enough. As I mentioned before, the struggle of Krishnan (father) was not shown much and everything associated with the father as in his love story and all were shown in a very short amount of time. But, I must say that watching how the son is influenced by the father in each and everything he does was good. I was only moved a few times through out the movie and one of the scenes which were pretty touching was the beginning of the movie.

People tend to compare this movie with Gautham's previous ones but we must realise that this deals with a different theme. VA is a nice movie, but got draggy in the second half and a lot of elements were not convincing enough. Overall, it's a must for Surya fans and thats much about it.

He has done it!

I am happy, elated, delighted, pleased,content and what ever the word is, I am just HAPPY!!!
Barack Hussein Obama has been elected as the 44th President of the United States of America. Now, I am not an American but nevertheless am I proud to see a fellow man achieve what was once predicted as something impossible.

I know he would not be reading my blog (obviously!!!), but I would like to congratulate him for making each and every human being on earth proud today. Wishing him all the very best!!!

Not So Awesome...

Yes, as I mentioned in my previous post, here I am with a post, once again on my views regarding some of the movies I watched recently.

Dhaam Dhoom: This one is a major DISSAPOINTMENT. Songs as usual, are awesomely awesome...simply because they're by Harris Jeyaraj. But, why the movie has not lived up to the expectations??? Here's a few reasons...First of all, the whole movie lacks logic...simple logic!!!
I know that one cannot expect logic in movies, esp. Tamil ones, but this one simply has no logic at all. A guy who's being chased by the ever-inevitable Russian cops, actually walks around the city with his lawyer, who actually falls in love with him!!!.And have I mentioned that they even have a sort-of-a-duet in between???
Okay, leave that. I am still amazed how the director came up with the idea of having Kangana Ranaut play the role of a village-belle! But, the only positive thing about this movie other than the music is the theme taken up by the director. Anyway, in short, this movie is not worth anyone's time/money.

Jayam Kondaan: This movie was a surprise to me. Frankly, I wasn't planning to watch this movie. But, after watching a few scenes featuring Vivek, I rent the DVD. Starring Vinay (Unnale Unnale fame) and Bhavana this movie was fun to watch. Again, this movie deals with a different,rare theme one can find in Tamil movies, of the relationship between a guy and his step-sister. Vinay is the hero and Lekha Washington,a newcomer plays the step-sister. Songs are okay, and my favourites would be Sutri Varum Bhoomi and Naan Varaindhu Vaitha. This one is a family entertainer and I would recommend it to everyone.Bhavana has dubbed for herself, and what can I say...her voice suits her and her Tamil is not bad! Overall, this is a feel-good film.

Sakkarakatti: Let me be frank here. The only reason I watched this movie was for AR Rahman's songs. And, clearly, that was the only exciting thing about the movie. Even that, the makers of this movie have managed to pull down a few notches by over-the-top graphics for the songs with not-so-nice picturisations. I was eagerly waiting to watch 'Marudhaani', my favourite song in the album, and I just skipped it. It was that dissapointing. One thing that dissapoints not only me, I believe many Tamil movie fans would agree is that, ARR's songs are generally not so good visually as much as it deserves to be. The last time ARR's songs got justice was in Sivaji. Anyway, in short, Sakkarakatti is a movie with nothing much but crap. Shanthanu (Bhagyaraj's son) has done okay for a debut but other than him, the other main star casts are simply crap, to say the least. As the poster on the left suggests, it's nothing but a musical treat by AR Rahman.Please skip this one.

Went for holidays for a week and when I got back, had classes and got a little busy.

New Theme!!!

I just felt like changing the look of the blog, so hunted for a simple and clean theme and I found this one!!
Okay, this is also mainly black like my previous one,but I kinda like it very much.Simplicity.
BTW, for those looking for a new theme/skin, check out BlogSkins. This site has loads of skins...various types even for other blog types like wordpress, if I am not mistaken.
Anyway, hv been trying to get that links bar aligned properly, but I can't. I guess I will leave it just like that.

Oh,watched Dhaam Dhoom btw. And as I have mentioned above there, its a BIG dissapointment.

Harris Jeyaraj does it again!!!

Yes, as much as I am a fan of AR Rahman...I simply love the man's one time assistant, Harris Jeyaraj as well.

I simply have no words to describe his awesomeness. He's probably one of the few consistent music directors of Tamil Cinema, apart from AR Rahman of course.
So, here I am spreading my thoughts on HJ's latest album, Vaaranam Aayiram. Vaaranam Aayiram is Gautham Menon's latest venture starring Surya. This is their second film together after the hugely successful Kaakha Kaakha (luv this movie :D).

Anyway, here's the list of the songs HJ has composed for the movie.

• Adiyae Kolluthae
• Anal Malae
• Mundhinam
• Oh! Shanti Shanti
• Yethi Yethi
• Ava Enna
• Nenjukkul Peithidum

All the songs are totally superb. After the wonderful 'Dhaam Dhoom' songs, HJ has done it again. This time, even better!!! The only notable difference would be, the absence of Bombay Jeyashree. Wonder why she has not sung any song for this one.

Anyway, my pick of the lot would be:

• Mundhinam : Sung by Naresh Iyer and newbie Prashantini, this sung is just simply sweet. The lyrics are also extremely beautiful.
  

• Nenjukkul Peithidum : This one is by Hariharan. It's really sad that I am just realizing what a wonderful singer he is and what an amazing voice he has. I seriously love his songs, and hearing this song has only made it awesomely better.

• Anal Malae : I must admit that I have something for slow-mo songs by HJ, especially the ones sung by Bombay Jeyashree. Anyway, this song is by Sudha Ragunathan who in my opinion, sounds almost like Bombay Jeyashree. This song, is of course another beauty.

For all those music people, and of course those who love Tamil Songs, please go and get these songs. They are a MUST!!
